Michael Saylor’s Strategy has resumed its Bitcoin purchases following a two-week break while also continuing to repurchase shares of its STRC perpetual preferred stock. Strategy acquired 950 Bitcoin (BTC) for approximately $75.7 million between Monday and Sunday, paying an average of $79,670 per coin, according to a Form 8-K filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

The latest acquisition increased Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC, purchased for a combined $63.8 billion at an average cost of $75,416 per Bitcoin, including fees and expenses. With Bitcoin trading at around $84,925 at the time of publication, the company was sitting on approximately $8.05 billion in unrealized gains.

Strategy resumes Bitcoin accumulation

The purchase comes as Strategy continues balancing its Bitcoin accumulation strategy with the management of its expanding portfolio of preferred securities and substantial cash reserves. Shares of Strategy, the world’s largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, climbed 7.4% to $165.20 in Monday’s pre-market trading, according to Yahoo Finance data.

Strive, the fifth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, also announced a new purchase on Monday. The company acquired 1,355 BTC during the previous week, increasing its total holdings to 26,355 BTC. Strive shares gained 6.44% to $32.03.

Strategy spends $174 million on STRC buyback

Alongside its Bitcoin acquisition, Strategy continued repurchasing its STRC perpetual preferred stock. The company bought back approximately 1.77 million STRC shares for $174 million during the same week. STRC gained 0.35% to $98.85 in Monday’s pre-market trading.

Strategy said it still has $875.1 million available under its preferred-stock repurchase program, as well as another $1 billion remaining under its MSTR common-share repurchase program. The company reported no sales through its at-the-market offering programs between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20, meaning it did not raise additional capital through those programs during the period.

Strategy’s available cash declines

Strategy’s “USD Cash” balance declined nearly 20%, falling from $1.30 billion a week earlier to $1.05 billion. Its separate “USD Reserve” also decreased, slipping from $5.10 billion to $5.04 billion after the company used $57.4 million to cover preferred-stock dividends and interest payments on outstanding debt.

Strategy uses USD Cash for broader treasury activities, including Bitcoin acquisitions and capital management. Its USD Reserve, meanwhile, is primarily intended to support preferred-stock dividend payments and interest obligations on the company’s debt.
