Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee discussed the potential partnership during the company’s second-quarter earnings call on Thursday. “We have already secured differentiated business capabilities in digital asset infrastructure through the Korea Securities Depository’s tokenized securities platform project and through end-to-end validation [...] of the full stablecoin process from issuance to settlement,” Lee said.
He added that closer cooperation with Dunamu could help Samsung SDS expand its presence in the digital asset infrastructure market. The announcement came shortly after Samsung Electronics revealed plans to introduce stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet, further extending the group’s digital asset strategy.
In May 2026, Samsung Securities, Samsung SDS and Samsung Card agreed to acquire a combined 4% stake in Dunamu. During the latest earnings call, Lee reportedly described the investment as strategic rather than purely financial. He said both companies plan to continue developing potential business models for digital financial infrastructure. “By combining Samsung SDS’s IT services, cloud, and security capabilities with Dunamu’s blockchain expertise, we aim to lead this market,” the Q2 transcript said.
The digital asset initiative forms part of Samsung SDS’s broader expansion across artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The company reported second-quarter revenue of 3.72 trillion Korean won, or approximately $2.6 billion, representing a 5.9% increase from a year earlier.
Cloud revenue rose 17% year over year, while revenue from external cloud clients increased 75%, supported by demand for Samsung’s cloud platform and graphics processing unit-as-a-service offerings. Samsung SDS also outlined plans to expand its AI infrastructure capacity from 110 megawatts currently to 230 MW by 2029 and more than 800 MW by 2031, highlighting its strategy to grow AI infrastructure alongside digital finance services.
