According to Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, Anthropic is considering raising as much as $100 billion through the offering. Such a deal could value the artificial intelligence company at approximately $2 trillion. The negotiations remain ongoing and their terms could still change, according to the sources, who remained anonymous because the discussions are confidential.
A potential $10 billion commitment would position Nvidia as an important early strategic investor in Anthropic’s planned offering while further strengthening the relationship between the chipmaker and one of its major AI customers.
Anthropic has also been expanding the infrastructure supporting its AI operations. In August, Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms secured a 20-year agreement to provide 191 megawatts of capacity from its Rockdale, Texas, campus to a “leading frontier AI” company. Bloomberg later reported that the customer was Anthropic and valued the agreement at approximately $9 billion.
The potential Anthropic investment comes as Nvidia continues expanding beyond its core semiconductor business and deeper into the broader artificial intelligence ecosystem. Earlier this month, Nvidia agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, increasing its presence in the software and development tools used to build AI applications.
Hugging Face serves more than 18 million developers and hosts over three million models, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said. The acquisition would give Nvidia control over one of the industry’s major AI model platforms as competition among technology companies increasingly extends across chips, software, infrastructure and developer tools.
