The latest acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings to 848,250 BTC, reinforcing its position as one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency. Strategy financed approximately $21 million through sales of its common stock, while the remaining $500,000 came from existing cash reserves.
Strategy's latest acquisition reflects a continued commitment to Bitcoin accumulation, although its purchasing activity has moderated in recent weeks. The company has also maintained its focus on repurchasing preferred shares, spending approximately $192.4 million on its STRC preferred stock during the week.
This represents an increase from the $176.3 million allocated to STRC repurchases in the preceding week. Ahead of the week's market opening, Strategy's Nasdaq-listed common stock, MSTR, was trading less than 1% higher, according to Yahoo Finance. Meanwhile, its preferred shares were expected to open at approximately $99.68 each.
The company also reported maintaining a $4.88 billion US Reserve intended to cover preferred stock dividend obligations and interest payments on its debt.
The latest Bitcoin purchase followed a social media post from Strategy founder and executive chair Michael Saylor, who suggested that the company was preparing to expand its holdings once again. “There’s always room for more orange,” Saylor wrote on Sunday, continuing his practice of signaling potential Bitcoin acquisitions through social media.
Strategy typically discloses its cryptocurrency purchases through filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, the regulator was closed on Monday for the Columbus Day holiday, while the company published details of the latest acquisition directly on its website.
Despite continuing to acquire Bitcoin, Strategy has significantly reduced the pace of its accumulation compared with earlier periods. During the third quarter of 2026, the company's total Bitcoin holdings increased by just 0.2%, reflecting relatively limited net growth.
Over that period, Strategy acquired 7,218 BTC while selling 5,553 BTC, resulting in a net increase of 1,665 BTC. The latest weekly purchase of 250 BTC continues the company's accumulation strategy, although its recent activity indicates a more measured approach to expanding its cryptocurrency reserves. At the same time, Strategy's substantial preferred stock repurchases highlight its ongoing efforts to manage its capital structure alongside its long-term Bitcoin investment strategy.
