CRYPTO REBOUND
Crypto-related stocks staged a strong rebound on Friday, recovering from losses triggered by the Senate’s failure to advance the CLARITY Act earlier in the week as Bitcoin moved back above $80,000. Strategy recorded the largest gain, climbing more than 13%, while Coinbase and American Bitcoin each advanced around 11%. Robinhood shares rose nearly 9%, according to Yahoo Finance data.

The recovery extended across the wider crypto equity market. Circle, Strive and Bitcoin miner Riot Platforms gained between approximately 5% and 7%. Bitcoin also rose around 5% over the previous 24 hours, trading near $80,800 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko.

Crypto stocks recover from CLARITY Act sell-off

Friday’s gains reversed part of the sharp decline that followed the Senate’s Sept. 15 failure to advance the CLARITY Act. Coinbase and Circle both fell around 10% following the vote, while Strategy and Strive declined approximately 5%. American Bitcoin dropped roughly 8%. The failed Senate vote left uncertainty surrounding broader US crypto market structure legislation, but digital asset companies and markets began recovering later in the week.

SEC and CFTC move forward under existing powers

Since the CLARITY Act vote, US regulators have continued taking crypto-related actions using their existing regulatory authority. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission provided no-action relief to certain passive software providers, while the Securities and Exchange Commission temporarily relaxed requirements for some platforms facilitating onchain trading of tokenized securities.

The CFTC has also submitted a crypto market regulatory action for White House review. However, the “prerule” filing does not provide details about the regulations the agency intends to propose.

Bitcoin returns above $80,000

The recovery in crypto-linked equities coincided with renewed strength in Bitcoin, which climbed back above the $80,000 level. With Bitcoin trading near $80,800, the rebound helped lift companies with significant exposure to digital assets, including crypto exchanges, Bitcoin treasury companies and mining firms.
