Ripple did not disclose the financial terms of either investment. Zilo has raised a total of $58.7 million in equity funding, according to data compiled by Tracxn. The company expects the investments to bring regulated transfer agency services, asset issuance and collateral mobility to the XRP Ledger.
Together, the deals are intended to address the problem of idle collateral by allowing tokenized investment funds to be used as collateral from the moment they are issued. The announcement follows the recent launch of a tokenized share class of Aviva Investors’ US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The London-based asset manager introduced the product after receiving approval from the Central Bank of Ireland.
Ripple also launched Ripple Mint last month, giving institutional clients new ways to access, mint, redeem and manage its US dollar-pegged stablecoin, Ripple USD.
The XRP Ledger currently ranks as the 11th-largest blockchain for tokenized real-world assets, with approximately $368 million in RWAs hosted on the network, according to RWA.xyz. Ethereum remains the leading network in the sector, with about $17.1 billion in tokenized real-world assets.
Across the wider market, the number of RWA holders increased by 50% over the past 30 days to 1.57 million. The total value of tokenized assets also rose by 1.5% to approximately $37.3 billion.
