A report by McKinsey & Company highlighted that the metaverse phenomenon may rack up nearly $5 trillion in market value by the year 2030, given growing interest in the technology and the value it can add across various activities and industries.

According to the report, four technology enablers are needed for the metaverse to reach its full potential; devices, interoperability and open standards, facilitating platforms, and intuitive development tools. Yet, the success of the metaverse also necessitates the maximization of the human experience in its different forms.

A survey conducted by Dating.com for example, showed that a third of respondents showed interest in dating in the virtual world. The online matchmaking platform had this to say:

“With advancements in dating app technology and the metaverse, more daters are open to making connections that span different cities, countries and even continents.”
