On August 22, decentralized wireless (DeWi) network operator World Mobile announced the availability of its app on Google Play for users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Tanzania.
The debut comes after a series of beta tests in a number of markets that are generally underserved in terms of mobile access and availability, including Kenya, Mozambique, and Nigeria. The World Mobile app is now also available in Zanzibar.
According to World Mobile, its DeWi services are intended to bridge the gap between major telecoms and those in underserved markets.
This is done by providing some connectivity services and promoting a blockchain-based sharing system supported by a proprietary token, World Mobile Token (WMT), as well as the inclusion of other Cardano-based tokens.
World Mobile announced that the Google Play launch will include the most recent update to the app. However, some functionalities may be unavailable owing to geographical constraints.
