Web3 Gaming Industry is Getting More Competitive
The Web3 gaming sector experienced consistent growth and notable advancements in the first quarter of 2023. The potential of blockchain technology caught the attention of traditional Web2 gaming companies, leading to a substantial investment of 739 million USD in blockchain games and metaverse projects during this period.
Gaming emerged as a prominent area of interaction in the Web3 space, with nearly half of blockchain activity stemming from gaming, offering opportunities for play-to-earn mechanics and microtransactions. QORPO Game Studio, founded in 2018, aims to bridge the gap between traditional gamers and Web3 possibilities by combining blockchain technology with the rapidly popular esports trend.
QORPO Game Studio, consisting of experienced developers who have previously worked on renowned titles like Arma 3, Overwatch, and Mafia II, is focused on bringing triple-A gaming to the Web3 space with their main project, Citizen Conflict.
This free-to-play shooter, built on Unreal Engine 5, immerses players in a team-based cyberpunk setting where three rival organizations engage in an ongoing battle for supremacy. After conducting an alpha test in Q2 2023, the studio plans to launch a public beta phase for the competitive mode in the third quarter.
In addition to Citizen Conflict, QORPO Game Studio is also developing AniMate, an open-world action RPG that merges extraction gameplay and battle royale elements. Inspired by companion-based adventures like Pokemon, AniMate transports players to a world divided into islands, each revolving around one of the five essential elements.
The game combines Pokemon-inspired graphics and storytelling with the battle royale mechanics popularized by Fortnite. Players can customize their characters, venture into the open world, confront challenging quests, engage in PvP battles against other players, and loot camps guarded by non-playable characters (NPCs).
Each monster in AniMate possesses unique abilities and evolves through various stages with distinct weaknesses. Following the game's release, QORPO Game Studio plans to launch AniMate comics and a physical trading card collection, expanding the franchise beyond the gaming experience.
