The United States presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy becomes the second 2024 presidential candidate to officially accept campaign donations made in Bitcoin, after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. became the first presidential candidate in U.S. history to formally accept Bitcoin campaign donations.
Speaking on the stage of Bitcoin 2023 in Miami, Florida, Ramaswamy said: “Let’s make the 2024 election a referendum on fiat currency.” Eligible citizens of the nation and permanent residents can donate a maximum of $6,600 for the campaign; this fee is not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
U.S. politicians and leaders have split sides over cryptocurrency adoption, the use of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and the definition of crypto assets themselves. As the growth of cryptocurrency use spirals across the world, the realm crypto is in line to be addressed by regulators and governing entities.
