Following the regulatory scrutiny by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against the world’s two largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance and Coinbase, the watchdog now labels 67 cryptocurrencies as securities.
The following 10 cryptocurrencies became classified as securities under the SEC after it sued Binance for 13 violations, alleging the popular crypto exchange of manipulating investors and traders via unlawful activities including the artificial inflation of trading volume and illicit staking program initiatives:
BNB (BNB), Binance USD (BUSD), Axie Infinity (AXS), Cardano (ADA), Cosmos (ATOM), COTI (COTI), Decentraland (MANA), Polygon (MATIC), Solana (SOL) and The Sandbox (SAND).
After the SEC sued the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, the renowned Coinbase, for failure to register as a securities exchange, broker and clearing agency, six more cryptocurrencies have now been recognized as securities:
FLOW (FLOW), Internet Computer (ICP), Voyager Token (VGX) and Nexo (NEXO), Chiliz (CHZ) and Near (NEAR).
