Faruk Fatih Ozer, founder and ex-CEO of collapsed Turkish cryptocurrency exchange Thodex has been detained in Turkey after two years since the exchange halted all operations.
Local police in Turkey immediately detained the 27-year-old when he arrived at Istanbul Airport on April 20, according to reports from local news outlet Anadolu Agency. The Thodex saga continues after the founder and former CEO of Thodex has allegedly stolen at least $2 billion worth of cryptocurrency from the exchange all the way back in 2021.
Nearly one year after the collapse of Thodex on April 22, 2021 after police raided its offices, Ozer fled to Albania but was arrested in August in 2022, and since then, Turkish police has reportedly detained more than 60 people linked to the Thodex exit scam, which include some siblings of the infamous founder.
