Texas Will Add Crypto to Bill of Rights

!!!TEXAS

United States state legislators in Texas have voted to amend the Texas Bill of Rights, with the focus on adding a provision which recognizes the right of individuals to possess, retain and utilize cryptocurrencies.

Introduced by Texas State Representative Giovani Capriglione, Bill HJR 146 states that individuals have the right to use a medium of exchange for trading and contracting goods and services that is mutually agreed upon, which includes digital currencies, coins, cash, bullion or scrip, and such right cannot be violated.

Receiving 139 votes in favor and just two against, the document includes a statement which declares that “no government shall prohibit or hinder the ownership or holding of any form or quantity of money or other currency.”

This move comes in light of the state’s seemingly crypto-friendly initiatives which work in favor of the mass utility and adoption of cryptocurrencies across the state, and according to the Texas Constitutional Enforcement group, including digital currencies in the Texas Bill of Rights is pivotal to protect the financial privacy of Texans.
