Music streaming giant Spotify has officially partnered with Web3 gaming ecosystem Overlord to test the integration of token-enabled playlists in multiple key markets. The token-enabled community-made playslist from Overlord can now be accessed using Web3 wallets of users which hold Creepz nonfungible tokens (NFTs) on Spotify.
As of the current development and testing phase, only Android users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Germany can unlock these playlists. The three-month pilot also features other metaverse communities, notably Fluf, Moonbirds and Kingship.
The announcement of this partnership propelled Web3 music token activity, including Audius’s AUDIO and Viberate’s VIB tokens rising in value after the alliance and its underlying project were publicly announced.
This is not the first time in which Spotify attempted to tap into the NFT market. Back in May 2022, Spotify tested its NFT galleries features on the profiles of some prominent musicians. The recent move of the popular music streaming giant marks a step forward for Web3 adoption and the added value for avid music listeners.
