The miner, operating through CKPool’s solo mining service, discovered block 943,411 and received 3.139 BTC in combined block subsidy and transaction fees, according to data from mempool.space.
Solo mining wins remain uncommon. Data tracked by Bennet shows that solo miners have discovered only 20 Bitcoin blocks over the past 12 months, distributing a total of 62.96 BTC. On average, this equates to one successful block every 18.7 days, with the longest gap between wins stretching to 58 days. The previous solo success occurred on Feb. 28.
The win comes at a time when Bitcoin mining is becoming increasingly competitive. Network difficulty, which measures how hard it is to find a valid block, recently experienced its largest adjustment since February, declining by about 7.7% before rebounding 3.87% within 24 hours. Although this temporary drop slightly improved miners’ chances, overall difficulty remains near record levels, making the probability of a solo miner finding a block extremely low.
Long-term data from CoinWarz shows that mining difficulty has risen dramatically over the past decade, with only occasional decreases when less profitable mining equipment is shut down or redirected to other uses, such as artificial intelligence workloads.
As mining becomes more resource-intensive, the economics increasingly favor large, well-capitalized operators over individual participants. Major publicly listed mining companies are adapting by adjusting their balance sheets and operational strategies rather than relying on chance.
Riot Platforms, for example, sold 3,778 BTC during the first quarter of 2026, according to a Thursday announcement. Other firms, including MARA Holdings, Genius Group and Nakamoto Holdings, have also recently reduced their Bitcoin holdings.
Against this backdrop, the CKPool solo mining success stands out as a rare event, demonstrating that while the odds are slim, individual miners can still occasionally compete with industrial-scale players.
