In another revelation surrounding the Ripple (XRP) case with the United States Exchange and Securities Commission (SEC), defense lawyer and ex-federal prosecutor James K. Filan expects that the speech documents of former SEC director Willian Hinman will be released to the public eye by June 6.
The Hinman documents are linked to a 2018 speech from former SEC finance division director Bill Hinman, who essentially said that Ether is not a security. The documents in question involve the internal discussions of the SEC which occurred after the speech, which includes emails and messages.
Filan took to Twitter to update on the matter: “According to the Court’s 9/12/2022 Order, the parties have 21 days to file public, redacted versions of Summary Judgment documents consistent with the sealing ruling. June 6th is 21 days from yesterday’s ruling.”
Another lawyer which has been following the XRP vs. SEC case by the name of Jeremy Hogan, a partner at Hogan & Hogan, also noted that the SEC “has 10 days to move for reconsideration so I assume Ripple is asking them about that today...if the answer is "we are not" then they could be released sooner I imagine.”
Fanatics of the Ripple community cheered a small victory after a United States judge denied the SEC’s motion to seal the infamous Hinman documents, which resulted in a price boost for the popular cryptocurrency.
