For the first time in six years, Polygon co-founder Jaynti Kanani said he was stepping down "from the day-to-day grind" on the project.
Kanani stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he intended to concentrate "on new adventures" while still making "sideline" contributions to Polygon.
In 2017, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun, and Mihailo Bjelic, as well as Kanani, co-founded the Matic network, which was eventually renamed Polygon.
Nailwal reacted to the news by saying, "Man, this makes me emotional. “What a ride we’ve had together brother. But its just the start for Polygon, i wish we could’ve done more for longer together in this crazy journey that is Polygon. But hey, you got to do what you got to do.”
Ten co-founders of the protocol were named on the Polygon website; some of them are still active in the platform's different side projects. With the spin-off of the blockchain data availability protocol Avail, Arjun left Polygon in March.
Since the plans were revealed in June, Polygon Labs has started considering enhancement suggestions targeted at upgrading the network to Polygon 2.0.
The new ecosystem will consist of four protocol layers with a focus on staking, interop, execution, and proving, and use zero-knowledge proofs. Developers were still working on "bringing Polygon 2.0 to life" at the time of publication.
