Netflix has allegedly prohibited cryptocurrency-related ads on its ad-supported subscription tier, which is set to launch months ahead of schedule in November. Netflix has opted to refuse any advertising campaigns connected to politics, gambling, and cryptocurrencies on its new membership tier. The new tier will also not display advertisements for items aimed for youngsters. Limits on pharmaceutical advertisements are also being explored. Netflix has accelerated the introduction of its lower-cost ad-supported tier to November in order to compete with Disney+, which will launch its own ad-supported plan on 8th of December.
Netflix's new membership tier will go live on 1st of November in numerous countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. With worldwide subscriptions falling for the third quarter in a row, Netflix said in July that it will introduce a new ad-supported service to improve income.
Crypto restrictions are nothing new in the digital asset market due to governmental scrutiny. In 2018, the social media company Meta suspended cryptocurrency adverts on its site before reintroducing them later that year. In 2021, Google reversed a ban on crypto-related ads, meaning that exchanges were again allowed to promote their services.
