Crypto-friendly Nigeria will now enjoy yet another cryptocurrency feature which will make crypto purchases more accessible for the crypto fanatics in the African nation.
The parent firm of MetaMask, ConsenSys, announced a fresh integration with fintech-focused MoonPay, which will allow its users in Nigeria to buy cryptocurrency via instant bank transfers, rather than being succumbed to rely on centralized exchanges to carry out such moves.
MetaMask expanded direct on-ramps with local banks in Nigeria, and this new feature is available within the MetaMask mobile and portfolio decentralized application, which has impressively simplified the process of buying crypto without the need of credit or debit cards; a payment method which has been declined in Nigeria to buy crypto.
This is what MetaMask product manager Lorenzo Santos had to say:
“While Moonpay had a card integration feature, about 90% of attempts to buy crypto with a credit or debit card were declined,” and this represented one of the paramount challenges faced by Nigerians which are looking to buy crypto without having a centralized exchange as a medium. Hence, such move by MetaMask is expected to surge crypto transactions in Nigeria as the process is now ever-so-seamless.
