The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is putting on virtual reality goggles in preparation for a crackdown on an ever-expanding list of potential crimes in the metaverse. Interpol has developed the first ever Metaverse particularly tailored for law enforcement globally and it is already fully functioning. People have previously been imprisoned for their deeds in the metaverse. A South Korean man was sentenced to four years in jail last month for sexually abusing youngsters in the metaverse and tricking them into sending lude photographs and videos. Interpol also unveiled intentions to create a branch devoted to combating crypto crime during the event in Delhi. Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock emphasized the necessity for the specific unit, stating that many law enforcement organizations are now unprepared to cope with the sector's intricacies.
Registered users will be able to visit the platform and take a tour of a virtual reproduction of the Interpol General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, France, as well as participate in forensic investigation courses. Interpol has stated that its metaverse will give a more streamlined and effective means for its many outfits throughout the world to connect and collaborate with one another. While education and training for students and new personnel were also mentioned.
