Siemens, a German technology company, has announced its new generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistant, the Siemens Industrial Copilot, in collaboration with Microsoft.

The companies revealed the AI assistant on October 31 to promote "human-machine collaboration" and increase productivity.

They also revealed in the announcement that they are developing additional AI assistants to cater to professionals in the manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure industries.

The companies intend to bring the "benefits of generative AI to industries worldwide." Companies in the manufacturing industry say they are planning Copilots for automotive, consumer packaged goods, and machine building.

According to Microsoft, the Siemens Industrial Copilot has already been adopted by the German automotive manufacturer Schaeffler.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella believes that the next generation of AI will accelerate innovation "across the entire industrial sector."

Siemens CEO Roland Busch echoed the sentiment, saying:

"This has the potential to revolutionize the way companies design, develop, manufacture and operate."

He emphasized that the availability of human-machine collaboration allows engineers to increase the speed with which they can develop code, innovate, and overcome labor shortages.

Siemens' direct competitor, Bosch, partnered with the Fetch.ai Foundation in February to launch a $100 million grant scheme to fund Web3, AI, and Internet of Things development projects.

Bosch was also seen piloting its innovations in the automotive scene alongside the European Union and blockchain companies at the IAA Mobility fair in Munich, Germany, in September.
