Cryptocurrency Funding Reached $10 Billion in Q2

Crypto Trends 8.7.2025

Venture capital investment in crypto saw a strong rebound in Q2 2025, reaching $10.03 billion—its highest level since Q1 2022, when it hit $16.64 billion.

June alone brought in $5.14 billion, marking the biggest monthly total since January 2022, according to CryptoRank. This resurgence followed a period of slow activity, signaling renewed interest in the space.

Among the largest raises, Strive Funds—founded by entrepreneur and politician Vivek Ramaswamy—secured $750 million in May to pursue Bitcoin-related strategies. TwentyOneCapital followed with a $585 million raise in April, while Securitize brought in $400 million.

Other notable raises included Kalshi ($185 million), Auradine ($153 million), ZenMEV ($140 million), and Digital Asset ($135 million).

Coinbase Ventures led the investment scene in Q2 with 25 deals, outperforming other major players like Animoca Brands, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Pantera Capital. In June specifically, Coinbase Ventures logged 10 investments, followed by Pantera Capital with eight, Galaxy with five, and Paradigm—who led the most rounds—with four. Other active investors included Cyber Fund and GSR.

Funding spanned multiple sectors, with infrastructure and DeFi leading the way, while CeFi, NFTs, and GameFi also saw activity. Memecoin projects, however, drew limited investor attention.

Seed-stage deals dominated over the past year, representing 19.43% of the 1,673 tracked rounds. Strategic funding made up 14.23%, with pre-seed and M&A activity close behind at 9.26% and 9.44%, respectively.

Series A rounds totaled 6.34%, and incubation deals were the smallest slice at 3.35%, per CryptoRank data.

Galaxy Digital raised $175 million in June for its first external venture fund, surpassing its original $150 million target. The fund will focus on key areas such as stablecoins, tokenization, payments, and related infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Theta Capital Management raised a similar amount in May to support early-stage blockchain ventures through its latest fund-of-funds.
