A report from the Financial Times revealed that Google Cloud invested over $300 million into the artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic, which has also received more than $500 million in funds from ex-FTX chief Sam Bankman-Fried nearly half a year before the disastrous collapse of FTX.
Anthropic confirmed the partnership with Google, also highlighting that it previously raised capital from SBF: “The Series B round was led by Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX. The round also included participation from Caroline Ellison, Jim McClave, Nishad Singh, Jaan Tallinn, and the Center for Emerging Risk Research (CERR).”
The Google Cloud-Anthropic alliance is aimed at training, expanding and implementing Anthropic’s AI chatbot “Claude”, in efforts to compete against the immensely popular ChatGPT from OpenAI amid the rapid global adoption of AI into business, education and the personal lives of users.
