The artificial intelligence (AI) battle is heating up. Twitter, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has alleged that Microsoft “illegally” trained its AI model using Twitter data, without asking for permission.
In a tweet on April 19, Musk had this to say as a response to a post which reported that Microsoft would stop supporting Twitter across online social advertising tools, Multi-platform and Smart Campaigns: “They trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time.”
In another tweet, the Twitter bossman alleged that the Big M mined user tweets in efforts towards training its AI-powered technologies. Musk has also made further allegations that Microsoft is demonetizing Twitter data by removing advertisements and “then selling the data to others”.
Microsoft is distancing itself from Twitter, perhaps this is all fueled by AI and the heaps of funds being invested towards pioneering AI projects. Elon Musk is building his own AI language model which he coins as “TruthGPT”; a technology which seeks to uncover the mysteries of the universe.
