Cryptocurrency YouTuber Tom Nash has been served an FTX-linked lawsuit by The Moskowitz Law Firm via a tweet.
A Florida district court granted Moskowitz to take the matter to Twitter, serving the last of the ten defendants named against influencers alleged to have promoted the infamous bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX which had Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) as its kingpin.
The Moskowitz tweet tagged the Twitter handle of the YouTuber before serving him with the class action: “@iamtomnash, per the authorization of the Court presiding over the pending class action against you in the Southern District of Florida, you have been served,” followed by the legal notice URL.
In a one-of-a-kind serving, the filing highlighted that Nash is a regular user of the internet, and serving noticing him via Twitter would be appropriate and above all, reliable: “Nash has an established Internet-based business, utilizes electronic means, including Twitter, as reliable forms of contact; and has publicly acknowledged [a] personal email address.”
The other nine defendants linked to the FTX scandal include seven YouTubers, including Brain Jung, Graham Stephan and Ben Armstrong. Commonly known as “BitBoy Crypto”, Armstrong missed a court appearance on April 20.
Instead of addressing his alleged “harassment towards plaintiffs’ counsel", Armstrong posted a picture of himself at a beach in the Bahamas and openly mocked the court order, adding: “RECKLESSNESS SPONSORED BY STAKE.COM.”
