Canada’s House of Commons have showcased their support for blockchain technology in a report published by the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology (INDU).
Consisting of 16 different proposals, the report presents the advantages and potential of blockchain technology, and INDU’s efforts have prompted the nation’s committee to include the report in consideration of the House of Commons and the Canadian government.
The report recommends to shift priorities towards protecting the right to self-custody, and promoting reliable and secure access to digital assets and cryptocurrencies. The report also recommends the government to recognize the capacity and potential of blockchain as an emerging industry with notable long-term economic and job creation opportunities.
INDU has also proposed that the government could can consider establishing a national blockchain strategy which involves artificial intelligence, investors, experts, academics and entrepreneurs. According to the report, the existence of an organized platform for increased monitoring and exchange of information would support the government with implementation of promising initiatives.
