BITmarkets Celebrates International Women's Day

On March 8th, BITmarkets Café at Arkády Pankrác in Prague became a space for inspiration, learning, and community as we celebrated International Women’s Day with a special event: Crypto for Women. The afternoon brought together attendees from various backgrounds, all curious about how cryptocurrencies could fit into their financial future.
The event opened with heartfelt words from Natália, who spoke about the importance of recognizing women’s strengths and contributions across industries, and the value of creating more opportunities in emerging sectors like digital finance.
Guests were then welcomed by Tomáš Krause, a well-known Bitcoin educator and author of Bitcoin v kapse. Before diving into his one-hour beginner-friendly session, we shared key findings from a new BITmarkets survey exploring women’s relationship with crypto in the Czech Republic.
What do Czech women think about crypto?
The survey, conducted with 315 women across the country, revealed a mix of curiosity and caution:
- 1 in 20 women already owns crypto.
- 36% want to learn more or consider investing in the future.
- 54% currently express no interest.
The most common barrier was lack of information, cited by 36% of respondents. Another 28% mentioned general concerns around investing, while 24% pointed to price volatility as a key reason for hesitation.
“Women are showing great interest in cryptocurrency education,” said Ali Daylami, Head of Data Analytics at BITmarkets. adding: “Our data shows that up to a third of them would prefer to learn through seminars or comprehensive educational courses.”
Among those already active in the space, many prefer long-term holding strategies, in contrast to the more frequent trading habits often associated with male investors.
A welcoming first step
In his talk, Tomáš guided participants through the fundamentals of Bitcoin and digital assets, unpacking concepts like blockchain, inflation, and self-custody. His goal was clear: to make the crypto space understandable and accessible for everyone, regardless of experience level.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious brunch, a glass of prosecco, and plenty of conversation in the laid-back atmosphere of BITmarkets Café. The event offered more than just information—it created space for people to ask questions, share views, and get a clearer sense of what crypto can offer.
Looking ahead
The event highlighted a growing appetite for financial education and practical insight into digital assets. While concerns remain around volatility and risk, it’s clear that more and more people—women included—are seeking ways to better understand this emerging landscape.
BITmarkets is committed to making crypto education accessible and useful for a broader audience. Crypto for Women marks the start of what we hope will become a yearly tradition, continuing to offer learning opportunities for anyone eager to take their first steps into the world of digital finance.
