After the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued crypto exchange giant Binance for 13 violations including that Binance allegedly manipulating and deceiving investors through its staking program, the SEC has now recognized a few more cryptocurrencies as “securities” and have now totaled to 61.
The 10 new cryptocurrencies which are now classified as securities are;
BNB (BNB), Binance USD (BUSD), Axie Infinity (AXS), Cardano (ADA), Cosmos (ATOM), COTI (COTI), Decentraland (MANA), Polygon (MATIC), Solana (SOL) and The Sandbox (SAND).
When the SEC filed a lawsuit against Bittrex in April, the watchdog deemed Ripple’s (XRP), Algorand (ALGO) and LBRY’s LBRY Credits (LBC), while when it charged Terraform Labs with fraud in February, a total of 16 cryptocurrencies became classified as securities.
