DeFi Protocol Exactly Loses $12 Million in Hack

!HARBOR

In a worrying trend for the decentralized finance, or DeFi, two important protocols, Exactly and Harbor, have been hacked separately.

These occurrences, which are the most current in a series of recent exploits, have highlighted the vulnerabilities that can arise in the relatively new and experimental world of DeFi.

The attack, discovered by blockchain security firm DeDotFi, involved hackers taking advantage of a flaw in Exactly's smart contracts. PeckShield, a security business, announced on X (previously Twitter) that it had "detected an ongoing attack."

Approximately 4,323.6 Ether (ETH), worth about $7.3 million at the time of the attack, was successfully stolen by the attackers. The attackers used the Across Protocol to steal 1,490 ETH and the Optimism Bridge to transfer 2,832.92 ETH to the Ethereum network in order to carry out their plan.

On the same day, DeFi protocol Harbor was also exploited. The compromise was confirmed by the interchain stablecoin protocol, which also revealed losses from its stable-mint and its vaults holding stOSMO, LUNA, and WMATIC.
