All the way to Santiago, Chile, the Czech national track cycling team is gearing up for the 122nd UCI Track Cycling World Championships, held from October 22 to 26 at the modern Peñalolén velodrome. The world’s top riders will compete for medals – including twelve Czech representatives, proudly supported by BITmarkets as the team’s official partner.

“This season is quite unique. There was only one World Cup, so there haven’t been many opportunities to compare with other nations. But based on results from other races, I believe the form is good,” said national coach Milan Kadlec for the Czech Cycling Federation website. According to him, the Czech team aims for a top-eight finish, possibly even the top five.

Czechs aim high

Both sprinters and endurance riders will compete at the championships. Among the hopefuls is David Peterka, a bronze medalist at this year’s European Championships in the kilometer event, and Veronika Jaborníková, one of the biggest Czech hopes in sprint disciplines.

Endurance events will feature Petra Ševčíková and Barbora Němcová, focusing on their favorite races – the scratch and elimination. Matyáš Koblížek also shows great form, having recently set a new Czech record in the pursuit.

“Each rider chose a different preparation model – some trained in Colorado, others in Denmark, or on the road. But everyone is ready and determined for Chile,” Kadlec added.
