ConsenSys announced in a recent privacy policy update that while utilizing Infura as an RPC on MetaMask, the Ethereum software business will gather the user's IP address and wallet address data. The policy includes a full description of all the user data that Infura will collect. This includes identifying information such as your first and last name, username or other unique identifier, title, date of birth, and gender, as well as contact information such as users' postal address, email address, and phone number. Furthermore, the firm will collect profile information, such as your username and password, interests, preferences, feedback, and survey responses, as well as financial information, such as your credit card or other payment card details, bank account number, and bank routing number, and financial asset holdings, along with feedback and correspondence.
Similarly, ConsenSys would collect Transaction information, which includes purchases made through the service and payment information, as well as extensive use facts and marketing information, in order to decide marketing communications and how users interact with them. ConsenSys clarified the revised policy by stating that Infura and MetaMask are both products supplied by the firm, with Infura serving as the default Remote Procedure Call (RPC) provider in MetaMask. RPC queries programs running on third-party computer servers for data and information. When users configure Infura as the RPC provider in MetaMask, data is collected. Using their own Ethereum node or a third-party RPC provider with MetaMask, however, will prevent the corporation from collecting any user information.
